Sul canale SQLPASS TV, continua la pubblicazione delle sessioni erogate al PASS Summit 2011. Questa settimana è stata pubblicata la sessione Introduction to Data Mining in SQL Server Analysis Services tenuta da Brian Knight (Owner @ Pragmatic Works).

Abstract

Data mining is one of the key hidden gems inside of Analysis Services but has traditionally had a steep learning curve. In this session, you’ll learn how to create a data mining model to predict who is the best customer for you and learn how to use other algorithms to spend your marketing model wisely. You’ll also see how to use Time Series analysis for budget and forecast prediction. Finally, you’ll learn how to integrate data mining into your application through SSIS or custom coding.

Dopo aver applicato il CU7, la versione di SQL Server 2012 (RTM) sarà: 11.0.2405.0.

Spesso si ha la necessità di strutturare dei database che associno una validità temporale ad uno stato di una entità (range temporale), oppure che registrino l’esatta data/ora in cui un evento si verifica. Dopodiché bisognerà interrogare il database con query costruite “ad hoc”, in modo che gestiscano correttamente le entità in gioco da un punto di vista temporale.

Quando su un’istanza di SQL Server si hanno più job schedulati, spesso si ha la necessità di averne una visione di insieme più chiara. Evitare una eventuale contention tra due o più job vuol dire ottimizzare l’utilizzo delle risorse di quella macchina e fare in modo che l’esecuzione dei job termini con successo e nel minor tempo possibile. This session was TOP 3 in its track last year and is always a crowd pleaser. I won a coveted Summit Spolight Session at SQL Rally this year by popular vote and it has been a hit at SQL Saturday’s all over the east coast because it is 100% demo and driven with real world data the attendees can get and use themselves. In this session, the attendees will learn how to drive and build an Analysis Services cube and reports as they rotate through the podium as volunteers. This session will show the crowd how simple it is to begin delivering powerful analysis to your end user community without going through a significant development cycle.
